Uttama Villain, Kamal Haasan’s new release, sees the story span different centuries – one segment is set in current times with the superstar playing an actor, while the other segment sees him portray an 8th century artiste. The film, co-starring Andrea, Pooja Kumar, Parvathy Nair, Nasser, and Urvashi, also sees a cameo by Haasan’s mentor, K Balachander. Uttama Villain is directed by Ramesh Aravind with music by Ghibran.
The film ran into minor trouble when the VHP tried putting a stay on the release of the film, but thankfully for the film and Haasan fans, the case has been dismissed.
Being a Kamal Haasan film, audience expectations are sky high. Haasan is an actor who has always raised the bar as a performer in Tamil cinema and there is an immense buzz, particularly for the period segment of the film. The music of the film is already critically acclaimed as well. A Telugu version is also being released with Haasan having dubbed the entire Telugu dialogue for the first time in his career.
Here is the Iraniyan Naadagam song promo from the film. The song is written by Haasan himself and sung as well by him, along with Rukmini Ashok Kumar. To May 1st then…
