After about 4 years Sushmita Sen returns to the movies with the Bengali film, Nirbaak (Speechless). Incidentally, this is the first film the Bengali beauty and former Miss Universe is doing in her mother-tongue after all these years as an actress.
Nirbaak is produced by Shri Venkatesh Films and directed by Srijit Mukherji, whose Chotushkone won big time time at the latest National Awards including the award for Best Direction for him. Nirbaak, co-starring Jisshu Sengupta, Ritwick Chakraborty and actor-director Anjan Dutt, looks at four love stories, all connected by a single woman. (Sen) The role demanded a strong woman, one of substance, and hence Sushmita, says Mukherji, adding that since he thinks of unconventional storytelling in is film, it is but natural he makes unusual casting choices as well.
Sushmita, who admitted that she was apprehensive about doing a Bengali film all these years, revealed that doing the film was like a homecoming of sorts, a return to her roots.
