SYNOPSIS
 
 

Meena (Geeta Bali) leaves home rather then go through an arranged marriage. She goes to a village and though opposed by the local zamindar, opens a girl's school. The brother-in-law of the zamindar, Bipin (Sajjan), lusts after Meena. Meena places an advertisement for a schoolteacher which is answered by Shanti Kumar Majundar (Sohan). Meena is taken aback for going by his name, she expected a woman. He is appointed although the zamindar's widowed sister objects. Meena and Shanti Kumar fall in love. However, he realizes the damage the love affair could cause to the school and leaves. Bipin then spreads rumours about Shanti Kumar's morals. Finally all is well as the future of both the school and Meena and Shanti Kumar is assured.

This is yet another of those stale, incredible and undesirable subjects coming to the screen which do more harm than good to everybody concerned. The girls' school as depicted in the film is both a travesty and mockery of an education institution for women.
